NILES, IL â Most would agree 2020 has been a tough year. For one custom toymaker, though, it has been fueling his niche business. Part Santaâs elf, part satirist and a kid at heart, Dan Polydoris home in Niles, Illinois is a shrine to toys.
But for the avid toy collector, it wasnât enough to just collect. A decade ago, he decided to create.
âMost of the time, for figures, I start with some kind of existing figure,â he explained. âI have parts upon parts.â
Death by Toys was born out of that need. But his re-purposed action figures and throwback novelties arenât just toys, theyâre often imbued with scathing social commentary.
I still don't understand this whole, 'Lets shoot a video of me talking while I'm driving my car' thing, but the dog does make this one a lot of fun to watch.
I know what you re thinking, I can t spell. Let me just say, it s not me for once.
Listen, I write these blogs all the time throughout the week. I make spelling mistakes, I get called out on them regularly. What do I do in that situation, go in and fix it. Looks like over in Abilene, 77-year-old Gary Rutledge is letting his spelling mistake fly. He owns R&R Appliances and recently put a sign in the front of his store that says No Democrates Allowed .
Just did a quick search and yup, that s not a word. Obviously, he meant democrats. I guess technically everyone is welcome in the store right now since a democrate does not exist. I have the right to freedom of speech, I ve given fair warning. Don t come in my store, said Rutledge to News4SA.
